The Audi TT is one of the brand’s most recognizable cars and while this 2003 model may look normal from the outside, it is anything but.

This Audi TT left the factory with a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine but for whatever reason, the previous owner decided to remove that engine and replace it with a 1.9-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder from a 2003 VW Golf GTD. This isn’t just any old Golf GTD engine either.

Various upgrades have been made to this engine, including the fitment of a Colt Cams Stage 2 camshaft, black nitride lifters, ARP engine hardware, BEW injectors, Audi A3 TDI fuel pumps and senders, and an aftermarket cat-back exhaust.

Mated to this diesel engine is a six-speed manual transmission that includes a short shift kit and is rocking a Sachs performance clutch and flywheel. The Cars & Bids listing also states that the car has a heavy-duty front axle.

The 1.9-liter turbodiesel originally made 129 hp and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque from the factory but is now good for 180 hp and 340 lb-ft (461 Nm), plenty of horsepower and torque for a sports car of this size. Power is sent to the tarmac through a permanent all-wheel drive system.

As mentioned, the exterior of the Audi looks completely standard but there is one tiny thing that does make it stand out: a small TDI badge on the tailgate. The TT has been painted in Brilliant White and it is being sold with a clean Carfax. True mileage of the car is unknown but the turbodiesel engine has a touch over 76,000 miles (~122,000 km) under its belt.

The car’s interior is completely standard and sports Aviator Gray leather across the seats, transmission tunnel, handbrake, and lower half of the dashboard.
